राज्यातील इयत्ता पाचवी व आठवीच्या शिष्यवृतीधारक विद्यार्थ्यांना दर महिन्याला २० रु. इतकी अत्यल्प शिष्यवृत्ती मिळत आहे. आता यामध्ये मोठी वाढ करण्यात आली आहे. यानुसार पाचवीतील शिष्यवृत्तीधारकाला दरवर्षी ९९० रुपये तर, आठवीतील शिष्यवृत्तीधारकास १७५० रु. रक्कम देण्याचा निर्णय शालेय शिक्षणमंत्री आशिष शेलार यांनी शनिवारी घेतला. या निर्णयामुळे राज्यातील सुमारे ३२ हजार शिष्यवृत्तीधारक विद्यार्थ्यांना लाभ मिळणार आहे.

सध्या विद्यार्थ्यांना ११ प्रकारच्या शिष्यवृत्ती देण्यात येतात. बालभारतीमार्फतही काही शिष्यवृत्ती देण्याचा निर्णय शालेय शिक्षण विभागाने घेतला आहे. राज्यातील पूर परिस्थितीमुळे मोडकळीस आलेल्या शाळांच्या उभारणीसाठी तसेच विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी शिष्यवृत्तीबाबत शालेय शिक्षणमंत्री शेलार यांनी शनिवारी बैठक घेतली. यात अनेक महत्त्वाचे निर्णय घेण्यात आले. राज्यातील पूरपरिस्थिती आणि अतिवृष्टीमुळे बाधित झालेल्या २१७७ शाळांसाठी बालभारती मंडळामार्फत ५७ कोटी रुपये उपलब्ध करून दिले जाणार आहेत. महाराष्ट्र ग्राम सामाजिक परिवर्तन अभियान या संस्थेमार्फत राज्यातील ग्रामीण भागातील एक हजार गावांचे परिवर्तन घडवून आणण्यासाठी १० कोटी रु.चा निधी मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांच्याकडे देण्यासही या बैठकीत मंजुरी देण्यात आली. मराठी भाषा विकासासाठी स्वतंत्र केंद्र असावे, यासाठी ग्रंथाली वाचक चळवळीच्या माध्यमातून मुंबई येथे अद्ययावत ग्रंथालय सुरू करण्यासाठी रुपये ५ कोटी रु.चा निधी ग्रंथाली विश्वस्त संस्थेला उपलब्ध करून देण्यासही मंजुरी देण्यात आली.
