06.11.2016,
The state Directorate of Technical Education *(DTE)* said on Thursday, 03.11.2016 that the beneficiaries of the Rajashri Shahu Maharaj Scholarship will be reimbursed 50% of their fees amount only by February-March next year.
The scholarship is meant for students belonging to economically backward community (EBC) with their family income less than Rs 6 lakh annually. As per the government resolution, the colleges are supposed to take just 50% of the fees from EBC students. The remaining 50% will be reimbursed by the government.
Since the scholarship was started at a time when most of the beneficiaries took admission after paying the entire fees at their respective colleges, it led to confusion as to who will reimburse the 50% of the fees amount and when.
Mr. Subhash Mahajan, director, DTE, said, "We will scrutinize all the forms and see how many of the students have paid the entire fees. The government will approve the required budget in the winter assembly following which the money will be given to the colleges by February-March. The colleges will reimburse the money to the beneficiaries thereafter."
*The last date to fill the application form is November 15, 2016*
